Hi, I'm Amandine MERAT !
French native speaker and fluent in English and German, I am a highly experienced project Curator who worked since 2010 in varied Museums across Europe, such as the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Bode Museum in Berlin, and more recently, the British Museum in London where I co-curated and co-managed, amongst other projects, The Albukhary Foundation Gallery of the Islamic World, the new permanent gallery dedicated to Islamic art that opened in October 2018.
Since 2017 I am also a highly experienced Researcher, Consultant in Art, Cultural Heritage and Museology, and an Archaeologist with a specialisation in Egyptology, ancient textiles, the Near East and Islamic art and history.

I was educated and trained at the Ecole du Louvre - Muséee du Louvre (Paris), where I studied art history, archaeology, museology and cultural legislation. I graduated my 2nd Master degree after five years, in 2010.
I first started my carrer as an associate researcher and scientific collaborator at the Musée du Louvre (Paris) and the Bode Museum (Berlin) where I audited and documented several collections from Ancient Egypt and the Middle East, and improved the internal and external museums databases (2010-2013).
In August 2013, I joined the British Museum (London) as Assistant Keeper and Project Curator, where I studied, audited and documented the museum's collection of Pharaonic and Islamic Egyptian textiles, and where I co-curated several temporary exhibitions, including the 'Egypt: Faith After the Pharaohs' exhibition (2015).
Between 2016 and 2019, I worked as Project Curator on the making of the Albukhary Foundation Gallery of the Islamic World, the new permanent gallery dedicated to art and culture from the Islamic World, from Spain to China and from the 6th century AD to present day, that opened to the public in October 2018.
Between 2021 and 2024, I worked as an Associate Researcher at Barker Langham Ltd, supporting varied on-going Projects based in the Near East and the Arabian Peninsula, such as the Al-Fahidi Fort Project and Andalusia: History and Civilisation Exhibition in Dubaï.

Since 2024, I work as a Curator for temporary and permanent displays at The 7th Bridge (Riyadh), and as an Art Consultant for Middle Eastern Art and Cultural Heritage at DAA-Art Gallery (London).

As an Independent archaeologist since 2017, I am working as a ancient textile specialist on several sites across Egypt, led by varied institutions based in Europe and Egypt (Cambridge UniversityDeutsche Archäologisches Institut, Institut Français d'Archéologie Orientale (IFAO)Institute for Egyptology-University of Vienna, etc). I regularly publish my discovery and research outcomes in scientific publications, and communicate frequently through conferences, lectures and talks in museums, universities or societies meetings.

Thanks to these experiences, I am used to working under pressure, challenging conditions and tight schedules, always with great skills of adaptability, autonomy, rigor and creativity
I have also developed and possess great communication skills, and I am able to manage and work with numerous and varied teams, communities and stakeholders, always with a constant awareness of the importance of a strong team spirit.
A former manager, a team member and/or a freelance, I have always overachieved my targets and objectives, by delivering outstanding projects, displays, content and publications.
